ABOUT Badel 1862
First established in 1862 as the Zagreb Liquor Factory or Mihic and Sabljic liquor factory, is then bought by Franjo Pokorny who starts manufacture of Lavov and Sljivovica. Because of Franjo’s expansion throughout Europe, his products were bought for the French Imperial court of Napoleon III.
In 1867, Mijo Arko establishes a factory with the most modern technology to start producing sparkling wines, brandy and liqueurs.
In 1886, Zagreb Liquor Factory expands its operations and adds the Patria distillery to its company. Patria was making fine liqueurs and its most famous Patria Medicinal Brandy which was sold in pharmacies and is known today as Badel Brandy.
In 1928 A.A Baker & Co. Joint Stock Company start their business as the regional office for tea and rum import, in the same year they open their headquarters in London.
In 1947, after World War II, the distilleries Pokorny, Patria and Baker join together to form the Zagreb factory of Liqueurs and Wines. Two years after this the Arko factory (who changed its name to Pleminka) forms with the Zagreb Factory to form a new company called the Factory of liqueurs and wine.
In 1950, the factory gets renamed to Marijan Badel.
In 1967, the factory begins to expand and develop its wine program by merging with Vinoplod enterprises and integrating with Vinoprodukt 9 years later.
In 1979, the factory goes through another name change, Badel Labor Organization. It has a total of 2800 workers and produces 43 Million Litres of Spirits, 31 Million Litres of Wines, 22 Million Litres of Non-Alcoholic beverages, 98 Million Litres of Sparkling Water and 12 Million Litres of Vinegar.
In 1989, Badel Labor Organization re-structures to form 4 different enterprises: Badel Vinoproduckt, Badel BAP, Badel Jamnica and Industrija Vrenja Sesvete.
In 1991, Badel and Badel Vinoprodukt forma a new company, Badel 1862 d.o.o.
In 2003, Badel 1862 is listed on the Croatian Stock Market.
In 2004, in the village of Apatovac, Klanice Vode d.d is built and is the most contemporary factory is built with the highest eco standards. This factory produces sparkling water and was a part of Badel 1862 until 2010.
In 2006, Eurobev d.o.o is established as a part of Badel 1862 and is responsible for producing sparkling beverages and fruit nectars, it is a part of Badel 1862 until 2015.
